JOIN Fincubator Concludes the First Phase of the Third Edition of the University Hackathon (FinTech Rally 2026)
The Jordan Payments and Clearing Company (JoPACC) has concluded the first phase of the third edition of the FinTech Rally 2026 University Edition, organized through its JOIN Fincubator as part of its ongoing efforts to support innovation, empower young talent, and strengthen Jordan's fintech ecosystem.
This year's edition of the hackathon gives participants the opportunity to identify any challenge or problem within the fintech sector and develop innovative solutions to address it. The initiative aims to foster creative thinking among university students while connecting their ideas with the real needs and challenges of the market.
The current edition brought together students from 14 Jordanian universities: Al Hussein Technical University, German Jordanian University, the University of Jordan, Amman Al-Ahliyya University, the Hashemite University, Tafila Technical University, Philadelphia University, Al al-Bayt University, Princess Sumaya University for Technology, Al-Zaytoonah University of Jordan, Applied Science Private University, Yarmouk University, Jordan University of Science and Technology, and Middle East University.
This year's hackathon targeted final-year students and those approaching graduation, who participated in teams of four to five members. Each team was required to include a combination of technical and business disciplines to ensure a well-rounded skill set for developing innovative fintech solutions.
During the first phase, participants attended a series of specialized training sessions covering Design Thinking, Product Design, and Data Flow. These sessions equipped students with the tools and methodologies needed to better understand challenges and design innovative solutions that address both user and market needs.
Following the completion of the training program, participating teams presented their innovative ideas through their respective universities. The submissions then underwent an initial evaluation process conducted within each university by an assessment committee comprising specialists from JOIN Fincubator, JoPACC, and Jordan Kuwait Bank, the Platinum Sponsor of JOIN Fincubator. The evaluation aimed to identify the teams that would advance to the second phase of the hackathon.
The qualified teams will continue developing their ideas into functional prototypes through a specialized training program focused on the technical aspects of digital solution development. This journey will culminate in Demo Day, where teams will present their projects before a panel of experts from the financial and technology sectors. At the conclusion of the hackathon, the winning teams will be selected based on the level of innovation, the quality and feasibility of their solutions, and their potential impact on advancing Jordan's fintech sector.
The third edition of the FinTech Rally 2026 University Edition reflects JoPACC's commitment, through JOIN Fincubator, to nurturing young talent, promoting a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship, and equipping students with the skills needed to address real market challenges. The initiative also supports the development of innovative digital solutions that contribute to Jordan's digital transformation and the continued growth of the Kingdom's fintech ecosystem, in line with global trends and the evolving needs of the labor market.
